NAGPUR :- THE SECOND CAPITAL OF MAHARASHTRA.


Nagpur city is one of the main city of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Nagpur is the second capital of Maharashtra and the third largest city in the state, after Mumbai and Pune. It is the second most popular city in India. Nagpur is also known as 'Orange City' because it is the main center of the orange trade. The city is located in the center of the state and is similar to the metro city - New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. It serves as a transportation hub in India, as it is connected to all major highways of the country.

Gond was the first to establish the Nagpur city. Then, under the Bhosle dynasty, the city became a part of the Maratha Empire. In the 18th century, the British East India Company occupied Nagpur and the city became the capital of the Central Provinces. After the announcement of the reconstruction of the states, the city lost the status of capital, but it was made the second capital of Maharashtra.

Nagpur is also an important city for politics as it is one of the main political centers of Vidarbha region. The city is also the headquarters of the Hindu Nationalist Organization - Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and was a major center of movement for Buddhist-Dalit people.

Nagpur city is an important center for Indian Armed Forces. The headquarters of the Indian Air Force Kamtinance Command is located in the city's Air Force Nagar. The center has several Mi-8 helicopters and IAF carriers IL-76. In this cantonment, there are several other important military units such as the Institute of Military Law, the Army Post Service Center and the Hospital for Soldiers.

Nagpur city is fast approaching development path in Maharashtra. Although the city is not considered to be financially strong, its economy has grown substantially in the last few years. The Multi Model International Cargo Hub and Airport in Nagpur (Mihan) are still fully operational. This project is for Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport and as far as investment is concerned, it is one of the largest economic development projects in the country. In Maharashtra, Vidarbha region and important energy centers of the state are located in Nagpur. Khaparkhera Thermal Power Station and Koradi Thermal Power Station are the main thermal power stations near Nagpur. A super thermal power plant of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) is also in Muda. Mining is an important industry in Nagpur due to the abundance of natural resources.

Nagpur city also has major educational institutions offering courses in various fields. National Fire Service College is the only college in the country, which offers Bachelor's Degree in Fire Engineering course. The city also has two of the country's most important national institutes - Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). There are also several National Research Institutes and Medical Colleges.

Nagpur city is well connected through air routes, trains and roads. Being the center of tourist attraction of Maharashtra, it is also widely known for wildlife reserves in the country. Due to the presence of many national parks, Nagpur has actually been declared as the "Tiger Capital" of the country.

  1. Adasa Ganpati Temple:- Adasa Ganapati Temple is a very famous temple of Lord Ganesh located in a small village of Nagpur. The most important feature of this temple is that this ancient temple has a 12 feet long and 7 feet wide idol of Lord Ganesh and this temple is one of the eight octave Vinayas of Ganesh.

  2. SHRI RAM TEMPLE:- Ram Temple is a historic temple of Lord Ram located at Ramtek, which is located at a distance of about 50 km from Nagpur city. Ram Temple of Ramtek is one of the temples of Lord Ram in India and if you are going to visit Nagpur then you should visit this temple.

  3. DIKSHABHOOMI STUPA:- The initiation land stupa located in Nagpur is the most famous and sacred monument of Buddhism. Tell us that this stupa is also the largest stupa in Asia which is one of the main tourist centers of Nagpur because of its architectural beauty.

  4. SITABULDI FORT :- Sitabuldi Fort is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Nagpur which is situated on a hill behind Ganapati Temple. This charming fort is now home to the Indian Army. There is a business center in the area around Sitabuldi Fort.

  5. FUTALA LAKE :- Futala Lake is also located about 6 kms from Nagpur which is also known as Telangkhedi Lake. The lake is spread over 60 acres and in Nagpur city there are 10 other major lakes besides Futala Lake.

  6. DRAGON PALACE TEMPLE :- Dragon Palace Temple is the most popular Buddhist temple, named after the main tourist destinations in Nagpur. Dragon Palace, located in Campiti near Nagpur, is known for its architecture and picturesque landscape.

  7. MAHARAJ BAGH AND ZOO :- The charming park created by the Bhosle kings was renovated as a botanical garden and zoo, now called Maharaj Bagh and Zoo. Many rare species of flora and fauna are found in this park. Nature-loving tourists love this place very much.

  8. AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE :- Swaminarayan Temple or Akshardham Mandir is built on Ring Road in  Nagpur district of Maharashtra. This newly built temple has a spacious kitchen, parking, a restaurant and a good place for children to play. If you are going to visit Nagpur and want to visit this temple then go to visit this temple after 4 pm as this temple looks very attractive due to the impressive lighting and decoration.

  9. ZERO MILE :- Zero mile is the point of the geographical center of colonial India of Nagpur and a monument with four horses and a column made of sandstone have been erected. In ancient times, the Zero Mile Stone was used by the British as a point to measure distances.

  10. NAGZIRA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:- Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is the most beautiful forest of Maharashtra, in which over 166 bird species, wild animals, insects and ants are also found. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary in India is the home to many endangered species, the species found here include black panther, sloth bear and wild dog, tigers and leopards.

  11. BALAJI KARTIKEYA TEMPLE :- Shri Balaji Karthikeya Temple is one of the famous Hindu temple in Nagpur which is known as Seminary hills. Balaji and Kartikeya Temple is one of the most famous places in Nagpur, if you are going to visit Nagpur, don't forget to visit this temple.

  12. TADOBA ANDHARI TIGER NATIONAL PARK :- Tadoba Andhari Tiger National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Maharashtra. If you are visiting Nagpur, you must visit this Tiger Reserve Park. A large number of tiger’s populations are found in Tadoba Andhari Reserve Park. According to the reports, there are 88 tigers in Tadoba, along with other keystone species including of crocodiles, Indian leopards, sluggish bears, gaur and honey badger.

BEST TIME TO VISIT THESE BEAUTIFUL PLACES:-

If you want to visit Nagpur, then I want to tell you that winter season is the best season to visit here. Therefore, the journey from April to October is an ideal time to visit these beautiful places. Due to the heat, the temperature of Nagpur rises, so this time is not suitable to go here.

Talking about food in Nagpur, you can eat fresh and juicy Oranges here. There are many food options available in Nagpur.
